An Anderson County deputy is recovering after being seriously injured in the line of duty, now, the community has a chance to step in and help.
On April 20th, 2026, Deputy Alex Albrecht was shot during a routine traffic stop along I-85 in Anderson County. A husband and father of three young children, he now faces a long road to recovery… with ongoing treatment, rehabilitation, and time away from work.

A fundraiser has been created to help ease the financial burden on his family during this difficult time. Community members can show their support through Serve & Connect, a nonprofit that’s been assisting families of law enforcement officers killed or injured in the line of duty since 2015. To date, the organization has raised more than one million dollars, with every dollar going directly to officers and their families.
