I think it is safe to say there is a large cultural divide in the U.S. currently. Being born in the 1980's, I would say the current cultural division is as strong as I have seen in my lifetime. Recently, a student group at Clemson put on a "drag show" on campus. Another student group, the Clemson College Republicans opposed having such an event on campus. The Republican group released a statement voicing their issues with the event. Their largest gripe they say is with the university and university affiliated groups for holding events of the type on campus but not holding events that display conservative values. Supporters of the LGBTQ community held a rally recently saying the Republican led group's statement was "hateful". The words "hateful", "bigoted" and "phobic" are thrown around consistently so much that it seems to be part of the progressive liberal handbook. Those same terms are thrown around by the "left" in the discussion of allowing biological men to compete in women's sports. It's as if you can't disagree with any progressive or liberal ideology without being labeled one of those, if not all three of those terms. It seems that the days of opposing something and having a contrary opinion, and just "agreeing to disagree" are over So the question today is, does opposing automatically mean you are "hateful"? Let us know, below and have a Happy Easter.
