The City of Greenville issued the following media release Friday.

Bank of America Fall for Greenville announced that it has awarded more than $14,000 to six local nonprofit organizations through its Fall for Giving program. The program was created to support the efforts of nonprofit organizations whose programs directly impact the areas of culinary and food, cultural diversity, family and music.

“As part of its mission, Bank of America Fall for Greenville is committed to supporting our local community,” said Megan Finnern, 2021 Fall for Greenville Board Chair. “The continued success of the festival allows us to give back even more, providing funds and volunteer hours to local groups that work hard to strengthen our community.”

Fall for Giving award recipients include:

Phillis Wheatley Center - $2,436 in funds to assist in the completion of an on-site community food pantry.

Project Hope - $2,056 to fund hydroponic garden towers with LED lights that will be housed at Hope Academy, an educational program for students with autism spectrum disorders.

Project Host - $2,500 to purchase kitchen equipment for the revitalization of their Soup Kitchen.

Senior Action - $2,500 to purchase music stands and rolling carts for Senior Action members to participate in music lessons, various bands and music groups.

Sustaining Way - $2,500 to fund gardening supplies and a backyard composting system.

Greenville Technical College - $2,500 toward the Fall for Greenville Culinary Arts Institute Scholarship Endowment Fund. The festival established the scholarship in 2006 to provide tuition for students in the culinary arts field.

In addition to the Fall for Giving grant, nonprofit organizations can apply to receive a portion of the 2021 festival proceeds by providing volunteer support over the three-day event. Each year, Bank of America Fall for Greenville relies on almost 1,800 volunteers to fill key positions throughout the festival site. Interested applicants must be a registered local 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization. Applications can be downloaded at fallforgreenville.net, and the deadline to apply is June 30 at 5 p.m.
