An Upstate building that once was a controversial site for adult entertainment is now being converted into a house of worship. The former location of Platinum Plus and Buck's Racks and Ribs, is set to re-open but this time as a church.
Hope Church, a non-denominational group based in Spartanburg is in the process of purchasing the property. The church is reportedly expected to close on the deal next month.
The building is highly visible as it sits on the frontage road along I-385 and has had a history of legal issues and entanglements, when it operated as a Gentleman's club. Those past problems include multiple homicide investigations, serving alcohol for minors and dancers being charged with prostitution.
However, Hope Church and its Pastor Rich Butler look to turn the page and create a redemption story in the building's new chapter.
