The chairman of the of the South Carolina Freedom Caucus is calling for immediate votes in the House and Senate to banish its co-founder from the Statehouse, as he awaits trial for possession of child sexual abuse material.

A letter to the president of the Senate and speaker of the House from Berkley County Representative Jordan Pace, who now leads the Freedom Caucus points out that nobody knows when the trial of RJ May will take place.

In the meantime the Lexington County District of suspended house member RJ May, III, will be unrepresented. May was suspended without pay when the ten-count federal indictment was returned against him last month.

However, Pace wants the lawmakers to vote as soon as possible to remove May from office. That would allow a special election to replace May before the new legislative session in January.

Pace's letter concludes by saying "..it's an unprecendented scenario, which is why I think we should take this unprecedented step." ))
