The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office announced a new “emergency contact card” program to help with communication between children on the autism spectrum and law enforcement personnel.
The Sheriff’s Office announced the free cards on Facebook, which provide an indication to law enforcement of a potential communication disability before interacting with children on the autistic spectrum.
The back of the card lists details such as the child’s name and contact information for a parent or guardian in an emergency situation.
A QR code is also located on the back, which individuals can register to the GSO Safe Outcomes program.
The cards are free to pick up at the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office at 4 McGee Street.
