The City of Greer is marking the halfway point in their For Greer project which is aimed at improving recreational and public safety necessities for the growing region.

A groundbreaking held Wednesday morning for the City of Greer’s new 200,000 square foot sports and entertainment center.
The $60 million project is the second in a series of four major projects being started over a period of four years to meet the needs of the growing city of Greer.

"Today marks another milestone in the City of Greer's recreational programming that continues a legacy of of serving our city, our region, and our state." Greer Mayor Rick Danner said. "Since 1944, the City of Greer has been providing recreation opportunities to the citizens of Greer. From a rather auspicious beginning of minimal programming, we are serving thousands of residents a year today."
The facility will feature nine basketball courts, 18 volleyball courts, an indoor walking track, wrestling room and more.
