An immigrant has been convicted of child sex crime charges in Western North Carolina and will face deportation after his prison sentence.
The Buncombe County District Attorney's Office says 24 year old, Oscar Solis Berduo pleaded guilty Wednesday to a charge of indecent acts with a minor.
Court records show that in 2023 Solis-Berduo was talking to a minor who is a non-citizen. He then went to Maryland to pick the girl up and brought her back to North Carolina where the sexual abuse occurred.
Solis-Berduo was originally charged with statutory rape, human trafficking and abducting a child. Prosecutors made a plea deal with Solid-Berduo on a lesser charge.
He will serve between 16 and 29 months in the North Carolina State Prison System. Solis-Berduo will then be transferred to the custody of ICE and will be deported under the Lakin Riley Act.
