What many are lauding as a "modern day miracle" has transpired in real time for an Upstate girl, her family and their community.
The Salem area of Oconee County is rejoicing as 13 year old, Brinlee Cannon has now received the heart transplant she so desperately needed. Earlier this week, her family and friends announced that a new heart had been procured for Brinlee.
She underwent heart transplant surgery at MUSC in Charleston on Tuesday. In the months leading up to the procedure various churches, civic groups and members of her community rallied to show support and raise money for Brinlee's medical expenses.
After the transplant surgery, Brinlee's father posted on social media that she was doing well. He mentioned that the Doctor described the new heart as "a perfect fit" and that it was beating and pumping normally.
While Brinlee is still recovering many are calling this the answer to the prayers of an entire community. Her father and I exchanged messages Wednesday and he thanks everyone for their continued support and prayers.
