Released by the OCSO.
(Walhalla, SC) The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a West Union man yesterday on a charge of First Degree Burglary.
34 year old Shane William Meredith of Union Crossing Road was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 12:16pm Monday on a Temporary Custody Order. Besides the First Degree Burglary charge, Meredith has also been charged with Petit Larceny.
Meredith was arrested yesterday by investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division at the Union Crossing Road address during the execution of a search warrant.
A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division responded during the early evening hours of Sunday, April 25th to an address on Union Court near West Union in reference to a burglary that had already occurred. After arriving on scene to begin an investigation, the deputy spoke with the victim regarding someone entering a residence on the property and stealing items.
Among the items taken in the course of the burglary, according to arrest warrants, were firearms, an item of jewelry, a safe and a pressure washer. During the execution of the search warrants, some of the items stolen during the burglary were recovered, which included the three firearms.
The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division, and based upon evidence that was gathered during the investigation, the arrest warrants against Meredith were obtained by an investigator.
The charge of First Degree Burglary stems from evidence that Meredith was armed with a deadly weapon during his exit from the residence during the burglary.
At this time, Meredith remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
