One person is dead after a weekend house fire in Western North Carolina. Firefighters responded to a house fire on Evans Road in Macon County, just after 5AM, Saturday.
Upon arrival, firefighters found one person dead inside the home. Officials say they are still working to determine the cause of the fire. The identity of the victim has not yet been released, as of the time of this report.
The blaze remains under investigation by the Macon County Sheriff's Office and Fire Marshal's Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
