Last week, the Greenville County Council was approached by the Greenville Triumph about a plan for a brand new soccer stadium. The proposed site is in Mauldin and the new stadium would seat over 8,000 people. The plan would call for the County to build the stadium at an estimated cost of over $38 million dollars. The Triumph would then become the lead tenant on the lease and pay roughly $350,000 per year in rent. There are mixed feelings from the County Council on the project. Some see it as an investment in the future that will have a big return, others see it as a major financial undertaking. For the time being the Council has tabled the matter for future discussions before a decision is made. What do you think? Should Greenville County build the stadium? Let us know below.
