January 22nd will hold a brand new meaning for Spartanburg County Residents.
Earlier this month, Captain Mark Barry retired from the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office after 38 years of service. He began as a Patrol Officer in 1986. He was promoted to Sergeant in Investigations in 1994, two years later he was awarded Supervisor of the Year.
In 2005, Barry was promoted to Administrative Captain by Sheriff Chuck Wright and remained in that position until his retirement, January 11, 2024.

On Monday, Spartanburg County Council declared January 22nd Captain Mark Barry Day in his honor.
