A suspect will spend years behind bars after a deadly shooting at a Western North Carolina motel. The suspect, Darrin Marquis Ross was convicted Monday of fatally shooting his girlfriend.
The Spindale Police Department responded to a motel on East Main Street in September of 2023. Upon arrival, the victim Marianna Woods was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation revealed that Woods left the room to speak with a neighbor, when she returned Ross was sleeping. He reportedly heard noises at the door and fired a number of shots.
Ross has been convicted of 2nd degree murder. He'll spend between 8 and 11 years in the North Carolina State prison system.
