A suspect is dead after an officer involved shooting in the Low Country. The North Charleston Police Department responded around 330 PM on Black Friday to the intersection of Rivers Avenue and Navajo Street.
Off duty officers who were working at the bus station nearby when they were alerted to a situation with a suspect. When officers encountered the man he allegedly displayed a gun.
The officers called for back up and when more officers arrived the suspect reportedly pointed the gun at officers. Police then fired on the suspect, he was hit and was pronounced dead at the scene.
SLED has been called in to investigate, which is standard protocol. The identity of the suspect has not been released, as of the time of this report.
