Power restoration efforts are underway across the Upstate.

Duke Energy Laurens Electric personnel were out at key locations starting Friday afternoon after the heavy rain and winds calmed down, and many are already seeing their power restored.

The full extent of the damage has not yet been confirmed, but roughly 98 percent of Laurens Electric customers were without power at the peak of the outage, which the power utility said on social media may be the worst storm in the company’s 85-year history.

Duke Energy also reported over one million power outages across the Carolinas at their peak.

The utility providers say efforts are in full swing, but that restoration may still take as long as a few days for many. Some may even remain without power for upwards of a week.
