Winter storm Fern left thousands across the Carolinas without power over the weekend. Duke Energy was reporting as of Sunday afternoon, that nearly 10,000 of their customers in North Carolina were out of power.

Just about 1,400 Duke customers in the Upstate were out at that same time.
In Western North Carolina over 8,500 were without power. Transylvania, Haywood and Henderson Counties together had about 6,000 of those. Jackson County was reporting over a 1,000.

Duke's outage center data showed that as of Sunday afternoon the worst hit areas in the Upstate were the Highway 276 area of Greenville County with nearly 800 out and the Highway 11 corridor in northern Oconee and Pickens Counties with around 700 were in the dark.

Duke Energy says crews from other states have traveled in to assist local crews with outage restoration as conditions allow.
