Three employees at WNC school accused of abusing disabled student

Three employees at a school in Western North Carolina are facing charges after being accused of physical abuse. The Swain County Sheriff's Office says it responded to a report that a disabled student was being abused at East Swain Elementary.

Deputies and NCSBI agents investigated the accusations and charged a trio of suspects. They include Donita Waldroup Guest, Melody Stroupe Cloer and Kathryn Mckenna Shaver.

Guest is charged with felony and misdemeanor assault on a disabled person and kidnapping. Cloer is charged with felony assault on a disabled person and Shaver is charged misdemeanor assault of a disabled person.

Guest has not been granted bond, as of the time of this report.
