It’s been nearly 7 years since our last total solar eclipse, August 21, 2017 to be exact. For those of you who missed it, don't wait and get yourself the protective eyewear you need to view this next one.

Coming up on April 8, 2024, another total solar eclipse will cross North America. The moon will completely block the sun’s face as it passes between the Sun and Earth according to NASA, darkening the sky.
The Greenville County and Spartanburg County School Districts are declaring the April 8th solar eclipse date an e-learning day for all students. The reason, safety concerns. An announcement reads, in part, "...district leadership does not believe it is safe for school buses or student drivers to be on the roads during the height of the event." Upstate skies will begin to darken shortly after two p.m. on April 8th.
The April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse will also pass over Mexico and Canada. For a list of glasses designed specifically for solar viewing, visit the American Astronomical Society’s website.
