Director of Media Relations for Greenville county Schools Tim Waller issued the following media release Monday.

Greenville County Schools Board of Trustees meetings scheduled for Tuesday, August 10 have been postponed out of an abundance of caution after Board Chairman Roger Meek tested positive for COVID-19 following the Special Called meeting held Saturday. Meek, who gave his permission to make his diagnosis public, released the following statement:

“All things considered, I’m doing fairly well and know that my symptoms would be worse if I hadn’t been vaccinated. I am reminded once again that COVID-19 is still very much a threat. I would urge anyone who hasn’t been vaccinated to do so immediately,” Meek said.

The following agenda items will be brought forward directly to the August 24 Board meeting:

Approval of ESSER Funding to Extend COVID Leave for Employees up to 80 Hours through August 31, 2022

Authority to Utilize ESSER Funding for PCR Test Interpretation for Students and to Supplement Personnel-Related Costs for Increased Demand for Virtual Program

Budget Adjustment for Career and Technology Education Innovation Center at Roper Mountain

Personnel Recommendations

All other August Committee of the Whole agenda items will be moved to the September 14 meeting.

The Special Called Meeting for the Discussion of Board Policies BBBA and BH and the Audit Team Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday will also be postponed to a future date to be determined.
