Two drug trafficking suspects in custody after chase in Eastern NC

Two suspects in a large scale drug operation are in custody after a wild chase in Eastern North Carolina. The Nash County Sheriff's Office says, about 30 kilos of cocaine and two guns were recovered in the operation.

Deputies tried to stop a vehicle Monday near Roky Mount. The driver 47 year old, Deshunto Alston Jr. then led deputies on a chase with speeds reaching over 130 miles per hour.

The Sheriff's Office says as Alston drove nearly 28 kilos of cocaine was thrown from the vehicle. Deputies eventually used a pit manuever to stop the vehicle.

The Sheriff's Office say two more kilos of cocaine were found on the side of the road. A passenger in the vehicle 46 year old, Maurice Randall was reportedly found with a kilo and a gun in his waistband.

Alston is charged with two counts of trafficking cocaine, fleeing and eluding arrest and various other crimes. Randall is also facing charges for cocaine trafficking, weapons violations and maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance.
