Two suspects in a string of weekend burglaries at Upstate churches , were in court, Monday. Three Baptist Churches, Cedar Grove, New Prospect and Mt. Pleasant, along with Reedy Grove Holiness all in Laurens County, were victims of incidents on Friday and Saturday.
Jesse Hawkins and Sierra Smith were arrested over the weekend in connection to the investigation. Both appeared before a judge on Monday and were apologetic in court. The judge has ordered them both to appear in court in August.
Hawkins and Smith are charged with 2nd degree burglary, property damage and arson or attempt to burn. The Laurens County Sheriff's Office is investigating to determine if other area churches were victimized.
