Two foreign nationals are dead after drowning in Lake Hartwell over the weekend. Anderson County Deputies and the Coroner's Office responded to Singing Pines Park on Lake Hartwell, around 5PM Saturday.
The Coroner's Office says, both victims were believed to have been underwater for over half an hour. The Sheriff's Office Dive Team found both men underwater about 40 feet from the shore. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
They have been identified as 41 year old, Felix Fernando Lopez of Guatemala and 24 year old Eimer Diaz Morales from Mexico. The Coroner's Office says, one man went under and didn't resurface and the old went into try and rescue him.
It's been reported that neither man could swim. Autopsies are set to be performed on both men.
