Two separate weekend shootings in WNC under investigation

A pair of separate weekend shootings in Western North Carolina has investigators looking for answers. The Asheville Police Department says, both unrelated incidents happened early Sunday morning.

The 1st call came in 3 AM and officers responded to the are of Huffman Road. A resident told officers that she woke up and found that her home had been damaged by bullets. A neighboring unit also suffered damage.

The second shots fired call came around 4;20 AM from an apartment complex on Future Drive. Officers found damage there and recovered three shell casings.

Surveillance footage was captured of the 2nd shooting and showed three unknown suspects firing shots into the apartment before fleeing towards Tunnel Road on foot.

All three of the units were occupied when the shots were fired, but no injuries were reported. No arrests have been announced in either shooting thus far. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Asheville PD at 828-252-1110 .
