Upstate man sentenced after shooting & robbery at discount store

An Upstate man is set to spend the next two decades behind bars after he shot a cashier during an armed robbery. The incident happened last year at the Dollar General location on Highway 252 in Anderson County.

The suspect, Thomas Brett Alewine of Williamston fired a handgun and hit a cashier in her shoulder during the robbery.

Alewine pleaded guilty to charges of attempted murder and armed robbery.He's been sentenced to 20 years in the state department of corrections.
