An Upstate man is set to spend more than two decades behind bars for sexually assaulting a woman in a Spartanburg park. The 7th Circuit Solicitor's Office says, 32 year old Ronny Leggett of Spartanburg entered an Alford Plea on sexual assault and multiple other charges.

Leggett was sentenced to 21 years for 1st degree criminal sexual assault. He also received sentences to be served concurrently for kidnapping, 1st degree assault and failure to stop.

The charges stem from an incident in September of 2021 when prosecutors say, Leggett sexually and physically assaulted a 60 year old woman. Court documents state that Leggett's DNA was found inside the victim's clothing and on her fingernails.

Leggett has a documented criminal history with previous convictions for aggravated criminal domestic violence, 2nd degree burglary, and resisting arrest.
