After an 18 month investigation a Western North Carolina man has been charged in connection to his daughter's death. In September of 2024, the Marion Police Department responded to a report of an infant in cardiac arrest at a home on Carroll Street.
Upon arrival, officers found a three month old girl unresponsive. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.
Investigators say after a lengthy investigation including interviews and reviewing of medical records, the infant's father Timothy Michael Thorne was taken into custody. He's charged with murder and child abuse. Thorne is being held without bond in McDowell County.
