WNC traffic stop leads to fentanyl trafficking conviction

APD
Asheville Police Department

A Marion North Carolina man will spend more than 5 years in prison for drug trafficking. 27 year old Dustin Ray Norton pleaded guilty to fentanyl trafficking earlier this week.

The charge came after a traffic stop in Asheville last year. The Asheville Police Department says drug paraphernalia was in plain sight inside the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered nearly 6 grams of fentanyl.

Norton was a passenger in the vehicle and took responsibility for the drugs. Norton will spend a minimum of nearly 6 years in prison and faces a possible max of 7 years and 9 months.
