McDonald's offers birthday cakes on its secret menu for just $9

Let them eat McCake!

After all those McDonald’s kiddie birthday parties you or friends set up over the years, it turns out you didn’t have to make sure to bring the cake.

McDonald’s is about as perfect a spot for kids parties as you can get, what with the Happy Meals, built-in PlayPlaces, and of course, all the usual addictive grub McDonald’s has hooked us with for years. But even though they have apple pies and cookies, Ronald never offered the main treat of any birthday party -- the birthday cake.

But alas, he did!

As Today reports, last January, a helpful TikTok user, @kayrock93, posted a clip that proved McDonald’s does actually have a fun little cake you can order, it’s just not on the menu.

The rectangular cake comes in chocolate or vanilla, with white frosting and a fun image of Ronald on top juggling, or maybe shooting fire from his hands - it’s hard to tell from the clip.

So secretive was the cake that many commentators assumed this was just another TikTok goof. So @kayrock93 posted another video a few days later.

According to a McDonald’s spokesperson, all McDonald's owners/operators across the country have the option of ordering the cakes, for employee or customer celebrations, from their local distribution center. Occasionally, restaurants decide to let customers purchase the cakes, but they're not on the official menu and you won't find them at all locations.

So if you want to order one up, make sure to check your local Micky D’s first. The cake only costs $9, but from the looks of it, it’s not huge, and you might need two, depending on the size of the brood of hungry tykes.

We’re not really sure why Ronald was so hush-hsuh about his cakes all these years, but we’re guessing the word is going to get out quickly, and they better have more on hand.

This kind of unknown item reveal has happened before, and sometimes the restaurant has gone ahead and added it to the regular menu. Earlier this year, Disney Springs let the cat out of the bag about the secret watermelon “Dole Whip” treat that would be available for a limited time. It was only last March that Chipotle finally added quesadillas to the official menu, after years of customers ordering them up anyway.

And Starbucks has also been known to offer quite a few secret menu drinks over the years. Though sometimes while waiting in line at Starbucks and hearing some customers’ incredibly detailed orders, it feels like all their drinks are secrets to be decoded.

But thanks to @kayrock93, we now know we can all order McDonald’s birthday cakes. Though we’re guessing the German McDonald’s asparagus burger might not make it onto the kids party menu in America anytime soon.
