Whole Foods Will Offer Royal Cheese When Baby Sussex Arrives

By Audacy

What better way to celebrate the arrival of the seventh in line to the British throne than with a dairy product.

With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby due any day now, Whole Foods has announced they will celebrate the royal birth with a cheese to honor him or her.

The supermarket chain is launching a limited-edition cheddar entitled Royal Addition Cheese to mark the momentous occasion.

Made in southwest England, the tangy cheese’s official name is Westminster Royal Mark cheddar and is said to have a semi-sweet, nutty flavor with notes of burnt caramel.

In a further nod to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the cheese was chosen because it’s popular in both of their respective homelands of the United Kingdom and the United States. In addition, the cheese’s vibrant orange hue, created by tropical fruit pulp,  is a reference to Harry’s hair color.

The Royal Addition Cheese will only be available for a limited time across the country, except in the Rocky Mountain region, and will retail between $9.99 - $12.99. How noble!

But while you are getting your charcuterie board ready, once the royal bundle of joy arrives, the world will have to wait a bit longer to see the newborn’s photo.

Unlike Prince William and Kate Middleton, who made immediate public announcements outside the hospital following the births of their three children, Harry and Meghan are going the more private route.

Earlier this month, Buckingham Palace said in a statement that the family will share the baby news “once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

On the bright side, that leaves more time to enjoy some royal cheese and crackers.
