Usually when a brand makes an unannounced change to their service, it is met with anger initially, before people eventually get used to it and learn to enjoy it until it once again changes. This happens frequently with webpages, apps and even smartphones. However, the most recent change, which came courtesy of Apple, only occurred for iPhone users in DFW and Houston.

Over the weekend, iPhone users in DFW and Houston were met with a surprise when they tried using the Apple Maps app. According to WFAA, Apple launched a new detailed city experience that includes more detailed navigation, windshield view, custom-designed 3D landmarks, a new walking experience and night mode. The new update also included a “look around Dallas” which allows users to view interactive street-level imagery with high-resolution 3D photography and smooth and seamless transitions.

With the new changes, the maps now show details for road markings, land cover, trees, elevation, and public transit routes. Turn lanes, medians, bus and taxi lanes, and crosswalks are also now displayed to help navigate busy intersections. While some may have been upset the map no longer looked the same, eventually they will get used to it and love it.
