There are many cities around the globe that have accepted E-Scooters as an everyday form of transportation. However, many throughout DFW were not on board when the dockless vehicles began popping up throughout the metroplex, and were thrilled when they quickly disappeared a few years ago. However, the fight to bring them back to North Texas continues, and with the DART reducing the number of bus stops recently, some believe the scooters could be back to help fill the gap.
Despite many throughout the metroplex not wanting to see E-Scooters return, Dallas’ Department of Transportation is collaborating with a micromobility working group on plans to relaunch the dockless vehicle program. That, combined with the DART service reducing the number of bus stops on their routes recently, has led to a number of E-Scooter companies claiming they can help fill the transportation gap. “We are eager to bring our latest e-scooters and e-bikes, as well as our innovative designated parking and riding zone technology, to the streets of Dallas,” said Blanca Laborde, director of government partnerships at Bird.
It is unknown when a decision will be made on if the E-Scooters will return to the streets of DFW. According to Dallas Observer, the major E-Scooter companies are ready for if DFW approves the return. Now many throughout DFW are left hoping the return is stopped.
