Every year, multiple musicians attempt the impossible of trying to create a new holiday classic by releasing a Christmas album. This year was on different, as even Jon Bon Jovi decided to put his own spin on three classic holiday tunes. Sadly for the Bon Jovi frontman, his take on 'Fairytale of New York' is being slammed online.

While not one of the more well-known Christmas songs in the United States, 'Fairytale of New York' is beloved around the world, especially in the UK, and fans of the song are letting Bon Jovi know his version doesn't quite live up to the hype. The song was released as part of a three track album titled, 'A Jon Bon Jovi Christmas,' but it is the changing of a line and the attempted Irish accent that has fans upset.

Even the producer of the original song by Kirsty MacColl and the Pogues' Shane MacGowan, Steve Lillywhite, tweeted his displeasure, saying "The worst ever version of this song . Sorry Jon ... embarrassing and pointless." While fans clearly won't be listening to this version, that won't stop more artists from trying to recreate a Christmas classic in the future.
