Earlier this month, it was announced that memorabilia from a number of iconic TV shows were set to be auctioned off by Dallas-based Heritage Auctions. One of those pieces was the bar from the beloved television series, ‘Cheers,’ and over the weekend, two of the show’s stars were in town to say goodbye to the bar.
George Wendt and John Ratzenberger spent many days sitting at the bar from ‘Cheers,’ and this weekend they got one last drink from the place “where everybody knows your name.” The actors, who portrayed Norm Peterson and Cliff Clavin in the series, were in North Texas over the weekend as auction went live. According to People, the bar is part of the James Comisar Collection, which includes over 1,000 pieces of memorabilia from TV history.
"Preserving this, and Archie Bunker's set, that's a big deal. That's a real big deal because all these things are part of our lives,” said Ratzenberger. The auction also includes memorabilia from ‘Gunsmoke,’ ‘I Love Lucy,’ ‘Star Trek,’ ‘The Office,’ ‘Mad Men,’ ‘Breaking Bad,’ and ‘All in the Family.’ The auction will end between June 2 and June 4, so those interested may want to place a bid now before it’s too late.
