Starting this October, the city of Forney is embarking on a new workweek schedule, condensing operations into four action-packed days. The Forney City Council gave the green light to this change, which will see the city's doors open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. every Monday through Thursday.
The driving force behind this shift is to enhance convenience for residents and create a more accommodating work environment for city employees. It's all part of an effort to foster a positive workplace culture and maintain competitiveness, improve recruitment, and bolster employee retention, all while keeping the budget in check.
Mayor Jason Roberson chimed in, highlighting the additional perks, such as potential savings in utility and fuel expenses.
Those working in the fields listed below will be affected:
- City Hall (Utility Billing)
- Community Development/Engineering/Public Works
- Economic Development
- Parks and Recreation Administration
- Municipal Court
- Police Administration
- Fire Administration
But don't fret; essential emergency services like police, fire, and public works will continue to operate round the clock, 24 hours a day.
And YES online services will still be at your disposal. You can pay your water bills, apply for permits, and report city issues with ease, ensuring that the city remains accessible even during its four-day workweek.
