Texas is home to many wild animals, though some are more elusive than others. While bobcat sightings are always exciting, they are a pretty common occurrence in the Lone Star state. However, it was a different wild cat that a couple spotted in south Texas recently that has many stunned, as they were able to capture photos of one of the state's rarest and most endangered animals.
Jake Strouf and his fiancé were visiting the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge recently when they spotted a fury creature scampering across the road. The animal was an ocelot, which experts estimate there are only 50 to 80 left in the United States. "We never imagined we would actually see one," said Strouf, who captured photos of the wild animal.
As seen in the photos, the Ocelot was joined by its kitten as they ran across the street and back into the wilderness. According to Fort Worth Star Telegram, the Laguna Atascosa refuge is home to many of the remaining ocelots. Next time this couple sees an animal in the wild, they likely won't be as impressed.
