Football is more than just a sport in Texas; it’s a way of life. Every city has a high school team to root for on Friday nights, and there are plenty of college teams in the Lone Star state to root for on Saturdays. However, when it comes to Sunday’s and the NFL it’s all about the Dallas Cowboys. While America’s team may be beloved by many all over the world, the love is taken to another level in DFW. However, for the few in the metroplex that don’t cheer for the Cowboys, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson wants to bring a second team to North Texas.
With the NFL currently in their offseason, the official NFL on CBS twitter account decided to give fans something to discuss, asking which city deserves an expansion team. While no one in the comments thought to pick Dallas, Mayor Eric Johnson decided to use it as an opportunity to make his pitch, according to WFAA.

“The answer is Dallas. Why? We are about to pass the Chicago metro and become the #3 metro in the US, which would make us the largest US metro WITHOUT 2 teams. Football is king here,” the mayor said in his now viral tweet. While a second team is unlikely, it’s something many in the metroplex were intrigued by. Hopefully Jerry Jones doesn’t see this.
