It’s rare for a band to maintain success after their lead singer leaves the group, but some have managed to find quality replacements and not upset too many fans over the years. The greatest example of this is Van Halen, who famously replaced David Lee Roth with Sammy Hagar. Of course, multiple singers over the years have revealed they were once asked to join the group as well. Now, Daryl Hall can be added to the list, as the singer recently confirmed he was once asked to join Van Halen.
For years, there have been rumors that Daryl Hall almost joined Van Halen after David Lee Roth’s departure. While it wasn’t as close as people think, Hall recently confirmed he was asked backstage at a Hal & Oates concert. “Eddie said, 'do you wanna join Van Halen, man?' He was half-joking, but I think he was serious, I really do believe he was serious. And I took it seriously’” said Hall.

Of course, now fans are left wondering what could have been, with some even suggesting David Lee Roth then start a super group with John Oates. According to Ultimate Classic Rock, this is not the only connection between the two groups, as Hall also confirmed Van Halen told him the keyboard riff in ‘Kiss on my List’ inspired ‘Jump.’ Sadly fans will never get to see Van Daryl.
