With so many artists releasing Christmas songs every year, Dave Grohl decided to change things up in 2020, and celebrate another winter holiday. Along with Foo Fighters producer Greg Kurstin, Grohl announced plans last week to release a cover song for each night of Hanukkah, celebrating eight different Jewish musicians. On Sunday, the two shared their third song in the series, a cover of Mountain’s ‘Mississippi Queen.’
As part of their ‘Hanukkah Sessions’ series, Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters producer, Greg Kurstin, have already released covers of The Beastie Boys’ ‘Sabotage,’ and Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling.’ Now, their latest cover tackles the biggest hit of guitar legend Leslie West’s career. “Talk about making a mountain out of a mohel. [N]amed Leslie Weinstein at his bris, the singer of our next band built a wailing wall of guitar as Leslie West. Check out our take on a track from Leslie’s monolithic band, Mountain,” the two said in a statement.
In the video, Grohl is seen banging on a container in order to recreate the cowbell sound from the song. Many online commented on his skills at the new instrument. Now fans will have to wait and see the next five songs they decide to cover.
