Of the many Fourth of July celebrations throughout DFW this holiday weekend, one stood out above the rest. The event held in North Richland Hills took a different route, replacing traditional fireworks with a drone light show. The show ended up becoming the largest drone light show ever flown in Texas and set a new Guinness World Record as well.
On Monday, North Richland Hills held a Fourth of July event at Birdville Independent School District plaza that featured a 10 minute aerial drone show that many will likely never forget. According to NBC DFW, the drones created light formations depicting some of the most iconic moments in American history, such as the moon landing, and American imagery like a bald eagle and American flag. The show was a collaboration between Sky Elements and the Northeast Tarrant Chamber of Commerce.
The Guinness World Record set by the show was for the largest aerial sentence formed by multi-roto/drones. In total, 1,002 drones armed with bright LED lights were used for the event. Now, we’ll just have to wait and see how they top it next year.
