It's not just young girls that Simone Biles and Team USA's gymnastics team inspired during their run at the Olympic Games in Paris.
Since the conclusion of the Olympics on August 11, several gyms around DFW have seen a rise in adults joining gymnastics and tumbling classes! Hey, if Raygunn can make the Olympics, anyone can.
Ryan Turney, owner and operator at Achievers Gymnastics Center in Denton, told the Dallas Morning Newsthat he saw a jump in attendance in his adult tumbling classes.
He said, "Last Tuesday, we had 27 people in our adult class, and that was one of the biggest it's ever been. Most of them when I talked to them, it was because of the Olympics. They were like, 'yeah, we just want to come check it out…"
One of the reasons attributed to the rise in popularity in gymnastics amongst adults is the age of the athletes Team USA sent to Paris.
Save for Hezly Rivera, who was 16, all other members of Team USA were over 21. Simone Biles turned 27 in March and was the oldest member of the team.
