Running a marathon is difficult enough as it is, but for one DFW man completing just one marathon wasn’t enough. The man recently completed the World Marathon Challenge, running seven marathons in seven days on seven different continents. Not only did he finish each race, but he placed 3rd overall in the challenge.
Paul Box of Waxahachie first heard about the World Marathon Challenge while competing in the Boston Marathon. Since then he has been training for the task of running seven marathons in seven days on seven different continents, which he completed this week. “In the running world, this has got to be something similar to climbing Mount Everest. As soon as the race was over, we'd head back to the airport, we'd get on our plane, and we'd take off to the next location,” said Box.

According to NBC DFW, Box’s journey started in Antarctica, where he faced -11 degree weather with 40 mph wind gusts. He was able to complete that marathon in 3 hours and 54 minutes, before continuing on to Africa, Australia, Europe and South America, before finally finishing in Miami on Tuesday. While most would take a long break from running after completing a feat like that, Box is already preparing for his next run.
