DFW to discuss adding high-tech gondolas as public transportation

Cities will work with the Regional Transportation Council for North Texas to determine gondola locations

DFW is a driving town, as in most cases it can be difficult to get from one place to another without a car. However, over the years there have been many attempts to change this and bring more public transportation options to the metroplex. Talks of high speed rails, more buses and trains, or even rental scooters and bikes are yet to solve the issue, but now there may be a new form of public transportation attempting to help fix North Texas, gondolas.

Next week, the Regional Transportation Council for North Texas will discuss the possibility of adding Google-developed high-tech gondolas in congested areas around DFW. Cities will submit their most congested areas, and will then work with the RTC to determine where the gondolas will be built. The gondolas, known as Swyft Cities, will provide efficient, comfortable and sustainable mobility while helping to reduce costs for places like real estate developments, universities and airports.

According to WFAA, the company claims their gondolas are faster than traditional gondolas because they are self-propelled, with advanced guidance systems. It is unknown when DFW could see these gondolas implemented.
Hopefully this isn't dragged out for years like the long rumored high speed rail.
