Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder recently kicked off a solo tour to support his forthcoming solo album ‘Earthling.’ However, while fans expected to see Vedder and his all-star band performing the new album, the singer has had a few surprises up his sleeve. Along with some Pearl Jam rarities, the band has been performing covers of The Beatles, Prince and Jimi Hendrix during their set.
Eddie Vedder may be on the road performing songs from his new solo album, ‘Earthling,’ but the frontman knows what the fans really want. Joined by Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer and former guitarist Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer, as well as producer Andrew Watt, Jane’s Addiction bassist Chris Chaney and singer-songwriter Glen Hansard, the group has been sharing some of their favorite covers while on the road. According to Guitar World, the group played versions of The Beatles’ ‘Here Comes the Sun,’ Tom Petty’s ‘Room at the Top’ and Jimi Hendrix’s ‘All Along the Watchtower’ during a show at New York’s Capitol Theater.

The group then followed that up with a ‘Purple Rain’ cover at the Beacon Theater, which saw Klinghoffer take over lead vocals. Of course the group has also played a number of Pearl Jam classics, along with some of Vedder’s new work. It seems fans won’t have an obvious bathroom break during this tour.
