If you want to see bluebonnets in North Texas, there are few places better to visit than Ennis.
In fact, not only are their bluebonnet fields absolutely beautiful, they are now historic.
The city just received an official Texas historical marker for their bluebonnet fields, which date all the way back to the 1930s.
Ellis County Judge, Todd Little, told FOX 4 News what the Texas historical marker means to the community of Ennis. He said, "It recognizes the area of Ennis where the people came to build a direct railroad, and they saw the beauty of the bluebonnets and decided to make a community.
"Now today we call this community Ennis, Texas."
The city received the designation just as the 73rd annual Ennis Bluebonnet Trails Festival began. The festival will run through April 30.
