Getting a parking ticket is probably not the way a lot of students at the University of North Texas envisioned the school year starting.
The turmoil of noticing that little flap of paper tucked under your windshield wiper, the angst growing and growing with each step as you walk closer to your vehicle, hoping that what your seeing is just a mirage but turns out to in fact, be real. Yeah. Not a fun time.
So you can probably imagine the full spectrum of emotions these students faced when they discovered that not only were these parking tickets fake, they were actually advertisements for a dating app!
According to Chron, the fake tickets included a message encouraging people to go out on a Friday night, along with a QR code linked to a dating app.
UNT Transit issued a warning to students about these fake tickets, posting a side-by-side comparison with an actual ticket they would issue.
UNT’s policy bans solicitations, signs and postings, unapproved advertisements, flyers, business cards and other promotional materials from being placed on cars on university lots.
According to the school, violators “"will be asked to cease the solicitation activity and leave the premises, may be denied opportunities to solicit on campus in the future, and may be required to pay the cost to repair any damages caused to UNT property. Students and employees who violate this policy are subject to disciplinary action, including suspension or termination, as applicable."
