There are many that wish they could go back in time and relive their glory days of still being in school. For some those memories include the time spent on the school bus. Now, Fort Worth ISD is giving those people the chance to experience the school bus once again, only this time they'll be the ones driving.
A bus driver shortage is currently affecting many different North Texas school districts, including Fort Worth ISD. The district is currently looking to hire 100 new bus drivers to help deal with the issues that have popped up recently, including students waiting hours before and after school for a bus. "We need bus drivers just really desperately. Kids need to go to school and have a great experience," said Raul Pena, Chief Talent Officer for Fort Worth ISD.
According to NBC DFW, there are currently more than 40 bus routes that don't have an official driver. To entice potential employees the district has increased bus driver pay from $18.40 to $22 per hour, with opportunities to make up to $26.97 an hour. For anyone that can deal with a few screaming kids, this may be the perfect job.
