Fort Worth legend Sam Bass' ranch hideout for sale

Legend has it Bass' money could be buried on the property

Over the last year, Texas has seen a record number of large rural properties change owners. Now, another large ranch is up for sale, although this one has a historic past. The ranch west of Fort Worth was once used as local legend Sam Bass' hideout, and some believe his fortune could be buried somewhere on the property.

The S&S Ranch in Palo Pinto County stretches across 2,600 acres and is conveniently located just 80 miles west of Fort Worth, near Possum Kingdom. The property is used for hunting and cattle grazing, but the real selling point is its connection to Sam Bass. "This is where the famous train robber and outlaw, Sam Bass, hid from the law. According to lore, his money could be hidden somewhere in this valley," said Steve Sikes of Texas Ranches Real Estate.

According to Dallas Morning News, The property includes cattle pens, stock tanks and roadways through the land. While no asking price has been listed, based on size and status it might cost a quite a bit. Hopefully the next owner finds the buried treasure to cover some of the cost.
