Getting caught at a train track is one of the most frustrating occurrences a driver has to deal with. While not nearly as common as it once was, waiting for a train to pass while trying to get to a destination has caused plenty of road rage over the years. Now, Fort Worth officials have announced plans to help drivers out at one of the city’s most active train tracks, by building an overpass to help avoid traffic.

The railroad tracks on Bonds Ranch Road in northern Fort Worth have become quite a nuisance for drivers, as trains pass through on average 36 times a day, causing four minute delays each time. "You can't imagine what they go through here on a day-to-day basis. I've been told that it can take 45 minutes to an hour to get through there,” said North Fort Worth Alliance president Russell Fuller. Luckily, something will soon be done to help this problem, as the Federal Railroad Administration will help fund a project to build an overpass over the train track.

According to WFAA, the project will cost $23 million to complete, with the Federal Railroad Administration spending about $17 million, the city of Fort Worth paying $4 million, and BNSF Railway covering remaining $1.5 million. The project is expected to be complete by 2028. Hopefully the construction doesn’t cause too much additional traffic.
