Giant alligator seen sunbathing at Sea Rim State Park in Sabine, Texas

Plenty of Texans have enjoyed Spring Break over the last couple of weeks, and it won't be long for the warmer weather is here to stay.

You might already be planning a summer trip to the beach yourself.

As always, there are plenty of dangers lurking in the waters and on the beaches near the Texas coast, though some are just trying to enjoy the sun like any beachgoer would.

Such was the case over the weekend where visitors to Sea Rim State Park in Sabine, Texas saw a massive alligator enjoying his time in the sun.

Hunter Ham was with his three children when he noticed the gator, sharing a video of the critter on TikTok.

He told Chron, "We were driving out, about 150 yards from where we played on the beach when we saw it.  There's some freshwater on the other side of the dunes that he came out from.

"You could tell this was his beach and he was chilling without a care in the world."

Officers with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department said that sometimes alligators go to the beach briefly to rid themselves of freshwater parasites in the saltwater.

"It's rare to see, but this actually happens from Texas all the way to the Carolinas," Ham explained. "Very common in Florida because of all of their freshwater."
